I've already started to pack. ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'll definitely keep posting from Istanbul and share the beauty of my city. Besides social media posting, I have a better idea: <b>sending postcards!</b> Who wants a postcard <b>from Istanbul? </b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It's easy to receive one,<b> just write me your postal address</b> via <a href="mailto:chiydem@gmail.com">chiydem@gmail.com</a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Even I want to be more generous and let you precise your postcard preferences (like city view, maps, museums, cats, cartoons, etc.), it'll be limited time, so I might not be able to send your favorite one. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So tell me, who is in? </span><br />

When I saw this short film, <b><a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/13/noah-short-film-toronto_n_3920700.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000003" target="_blank">Noah, from Toronto Film Festival,</a></b> I couldn't stop myself to post it.<br />
<br />
<b>Noah</b> narrates a breaking up story via computer screen. Facebook relationship status, profile pictures, chats and even random chat rooms are all included to the process. So, basically, it's a story about how relationships are forming and even ending nowadays.<br />
<br />
Is it sad but true, or just overrated? Check it out by yourself. Here is the video:<br />

ps: have you ever hacked your boyfriend's / girlfriend's mailbox or facebook, twitter? So many years ago, I did once. It's more than terrible! You read everything you shouldn't have heard about. On the other hand, at the end of the day, you are the one who is miserably sad and plus guilty. Don't even think about it. ;)chiydemhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02000081963006274924noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1922242494695959870.post-57666827768517881672013-09-05T17:58:00.002+02:002013-09-05T18:00:04.116+02:00postcard from turin<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If you don't have any Polaroid camera (like me), maybe you should first start to the project from googling an affordable and recommended camera (like I do). </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 1.429em;">;) </span></p>

I couldn't wait till organizing all photos and trip notes; therefore, I decided to post some highlights. Consider them as snapshots. ;)<br />
<br />
During my stay in NY, I've been always looking for new stationary ideas. Nevertheless, there were lots of charming notebooks, sticky notes, stamps, pens and pencils. Among all, <b>there was a beautiful postcard display idea in MoMa museum shop</b>; a postcard notebook.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbh94t4GNOrWJ0bE0za5JUpRGDdv_J0Y8OU8EFsgl1yHLOxgEgbaapDqJXH-N30jmCOm4-6vre5d6HM_nyfDzm8VWYcja7utyNiri0K0a_8gYay1QHLz5FzE3m_ly_jNBN67-tNVMNtGfx/s866/postcard-notebook-moma.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbh94t4GNOrWJ0bE0za5JUpRGDdv_J0Y8OU8EFsgl1yHLOxgEgbaapDqJXH-N30jmCOm4-6vre5d6HM_nyfDzm8VWYcja7utyNiri0K0a_8gYay1QHLz5FzE3m_ly_jNBN67-tNVMNtGfx/s640/postcard-notebook-moma.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
I couldn't take a good quality photo of the notebook (due to the museumshop supervisor issues.. :/ ) and I couldn't have found any related image in Internet. But the idea is quite simple; you have a blank page notebook, and you stick your postcards in it. Hence, they aren't getting lost or damaged. You can also take notes about them; where you bought it, who sent it to you, what it reminds you of, etc.<br />
<br />
To be honest, I'm concerned about notes written by senders. I don't want to damage them with a glue. So, maybe <a href="http://www.ebay.com/bhp/photo-corner-sticker" target="_blank">photo corner stickers</a> are better than glues.<br />
<br />
I'll try it asap. What do you think? Is it a brilliant postcard displaying idea or old-fashioned? How do you store your postcards? Yes, I have lots of questions and looking forward to hearing from you.<br />

Send a <b>hate mail</b> postcard via <b>Mr. Bingo</b>!<br />
<b><a href="http://www.mr-bingo.org.uk/" target="_blank">Mr. Bingo</a></b> is a London-based illustrator who created the idea of <b><a href="http://www.mr-bingo.org.uk/" target="_blank">hate mail</a></b>. About a year ago, he was drunk in his studio and he tweeted "first person replies to this tweet, I'll send him an offensive message on back of a postcard." Suprisingly he got 50 replies! It was so interesting to see how people wanted to be hated. So, Mr. Bingo developed the hate mail postcard service <b>where people could request offensive messages to be sent on their behalf. </b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOLCpa0iqIVTLf1ikEjIYbJz64Z0htS_yOrcCoaT5FVU-DzeeZc4J8iX0Nxnnwq3RVmKxadEPW-2ym8zEH7dhy4DTVw0IJauOVONbrx0AIQYB0LisU6VnjfwhkExJavvqFH0Yx8LLkcT5_/s1600/hate-mail-project-7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOLCpa0iqIVTLf1ikEjIYbJz64Z0htS_yOrcCoaT5FVU-DzeeZc4J8iX0Nxnnwq3RVmKxadEPW-2ym8zEH7dhy4DTVw0IJauOVONbrx0AIQYB0LisU6VnjfwhkExJavvqFH0Yx8LLkcT5_/s640/hate-mail-project-7.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<b></b><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
We are expecting that sending postcard should be joyful. Image on the postcard should be cheerful and the messages should contain hope, luck and good wishes. <b><a href="http://www.mr-bingo.org.uk/" target="_blank">Mr. Bingo</a> converses all these postcard intentions while he is making simply fun of people through his abusive illustrations.</b> It can be hurtful, dissappointing or humiliating. It doesn't matter. Because the one and only rule of this service is: "Specific requests are not allowed." Each postcard is sent randomly, so you get what you are given. It is obvious that <b><a href="http://www.mr-bingo.org.uk/" target="_blank">Mr. Bingo</a></b> doesn't take any responsibility for anyone who suffers emotionally. Why should he?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn5o88syjXFqTXAMDMJXumcgXGz2GkfAJNiA8G1yUAON5BYOI5a_ggmtnqrs7g2FQQV30fWIjppSBoPQf0Z2reY6L9PkjEV6aVH1n7dXQwOCgHjaf7wH-kq7clhEQnSNsv7NGwKFwdm9t2/s1600/hate-mail-project-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn5o88syjXFqTXAMDMJXumcgXGz2GkfAJNiA8G1yUAON5BYOI5a_ggmtnqrs7g2FQQV30fWIjppSBoPQf0Z2reY6L9PkjEV6aVH1n7dXQwOCgHjaf7wH-kq7clhEQnSNsv7NGwKFwdm9t2/s640/hate-mail-project-3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The hate mail service is still open. Bad news: it is only in UK and due to its popularity, it is limited. On the other hand, good news: it is now <b><a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hate-Mail-Mr-Bingo/dp/0718159039/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365154635&sr=8-1&keywords=mr+bingo" target="_blank">available as a book.</a></b> So you can get inspiration, copy it or just send one of these <b><a href="http://www.mr-bingo.org.uk/" target="_blank">hate mail </a></b>postcards to the one who disturbs you. </div>

<br />
Just a reminder: You are not Mr. Bingo, so you may have to take all responsibility.<br />
Is it risky? Enjoy it! ;)<br />
<br />
In the video below, <b><a href="http://www.mr-bingo.org.uk/" target="_blank">Mr. Bingo</a></b> narrates the story of the <b><a href="http://www.mr-bingo.org.uk/" target="_blank">hate mail</a></b> postcard service. Take a look to his creativity.<br />

</div>
A few weeks ago I had a chance to spend a Sunday lunch time in Paris. I was invited to one of my dearest friends holy 30th birthday party. It was a quick one day trip that was full of joy. Here is Paris, me and our short but so precious reunion.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb9CcjZydTDBTgcsy1k9CanpzQ3isDBB1F9fTFAktnbSo2BT9sxtFV2IcvohXYWrq5rQOwJFqk9YiXAZj4_7p-JTB-opanou6KMPBjK31bQZj-DiuUaaU9exuC-a7Y5wa-y9E_MEbwnzw3/s1600/paris-postcard-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="430" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb9CcjZydTDBTgcsy1k9CanpzQ3isDBB1F9fTFAktnbSo2BT9sxtFV2IcvohXYWrq5rQOwJFqk9YiXAZj4_7p-JTB-opanou6KMPBjK31bQZj-DiuUaaU9exuC-a7Y5wa-y9E_MEbwnzw3/s640/paris-postcard-5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #0000ee;"><br /></span></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
I met Paris in 2005 when I was an Erasmus student in Amiens, in a very small city, just 1,5 hours away from Paris by train. In those days, another close friend of mine was living in Paris and I visited her almost every weekend in 6 months. Now, my every visit to Paris reminds me how I miss French and Parisienne lifestyle. Parisienne joy of life is unique. Beyond art, culture, literature, fashion, architecture, and love, Paris is a museum-city. Every step you take in the city of Paris is an inspiration.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzaLhKt1paPkeOwhveSwrv_Ay9FD0MO4ouEBoinAqX5pS8anGScnrtRmJukZ4tSl4q9vvfdUEnX-sAzkjZc39aZ5hZlEfszdH_-wtFgfGIRLsRS4-JV3Hk_NG50W0BzwYlGSGQM7G9k-lz/s1600/Paris-postcard-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="414" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzaLhKt1paPkeOwhveSwrv_Ay9FD0MO4ouEBoinAqX5pS8anGScnrtRmJukZ4tSl4q9vvfdUEnX-sAzkjZc39aZ5hZlEfszdH_-wtFgfGIRLsRS4-JV3Hk_NG50W0BzwYlGSGQM7G9k-lz/s640/Paris-postcard-3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
During my last visit I could spend only 3 hours in the city center, and it was all in a restaurant. Indeed <b><a href="http://www.petit-zinc.com/">Le Petit Zinc</a></b> is beyond a restaurant that you can dream of. It is in <b>St. Germain</b>, in a very popular but far away from tourist invaded districts. The restaurant is very famous with its marine foods. I was so excited to chat with my friends after such a long time, so I totally forgot to take photo. (My dislike of foodporn photos is another issue, but I would like to have taken photos of the space. Next time...)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9MSfunnfWOXcSXpIlzOO3DSD4VP5m91Qjxsu5SaSEJdoY2u6HA3if9_u-hNlzPjf0cRwP2UDdIMppBHnZX0UI2Mt_0396cVOqfKsKGZP2Z4q0oC9e1utQYPrDaw-ICcsVMnb2J3bRItmk/s1600/Paris-postcard-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="610" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9MSfunnfWOXcSXpIlzOO3DSD4VP5m91Qjxsu5SaSEJdoY2u6HA3if9_u-hNlzPjf0cRwP2UDdIMppBHnZX0UI2Mt_0396cVOqfKsKGZP2Z4q0oC9e1utQYPrDaw-ICcsVMnb2J3bRItmk/s640/Paris-postcard-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It was Sunday, almost all shops in the city were closed, but God blesses airport shopping. ;) While waiting for my return flght, I stepped into a Kiosk and bought couple of magazines and these two postcards. Two woman drinking coffee was taken by Maurice Branger, around 1925, and lovers in a cafe was taken by Henri Cartier-Bresseon in 1969.<br />
<br />
Macarons... and La Durée... It was just in front of me when I headed to the gate. It was definitely what we call luck. ;) A box of La Durée's significant tea accompained by the delicious macarons. The postcard that I received from my friend completed the summary of my Sunday trip to Paris. ;)<br />
<br />
Paris, believe me honey, moving in with you is my dream. Till then, let's keep in touch.<br />

Since I moved to Frankfurt, going to the movies became a challenge to me since almost all the movies are dubbed in German. Then I heard about <b>Deutsches Film Museum</b> and their film program with <b>2013 Oscar-Nominated Best Picture</b> screenings in English. Before the screening, I took a look at the museum shop (my favourite section in any museum!), and just came accross with this humorous tote bag: "First I would like to thank the Academy." I was pretty sure you'd love it too! With the well known quote from the Oscars on the tote bag, you can carry your cinephile spirit during this whole year. This classic quote would be a perfect match with a time-honored actor, therefore it is accompanied by a Charlie Chaplin postcard. ;) </span><br />

You feel better when you receive one. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><span style="text-align: start;">I have an infinite scroll down to do list, but I don't care. I had my new addresses from Postcrossing and it is one of the best times of my day; a cup of coffee and writing postcards. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>

Writing postcards is definetly my therapy. Looking for the convenient postcard, talking about myself, asking some questions... In other words, I feel like sending postcard is a way to spread the happiness.<br />
<br />
<span style="text-align: justify;">I know that Keep Calm series are exaggerated. I totally feel the same. But when I saw this postcard in Amsterdam, it made me smile though. I don't know how, but it reminds me hope: Send a postcard. You feel better when you will receive one. </span><br />

Keep calm and keep dreaming. Dreams do come true.</div>

I don't think there's anyting new to say about <b>Anne Frank</b>, since we all know her from her diary that she kept during World War II. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Anne Frank's diary</b> is a unique source that we can witness the tragedy of a family in that epoch. She received the diary just a few days before she went hiding, and than she kept writing almost everyday, till the day that all Frank family was taken away to concentration camps. </div>

She was really seeking to write a proper history of those days, hence she described the secret annex and its residents in a very detailed way with an intention to publish her writings. </div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>"You've known for a long time that my greatest wish is to be a journalist and later on, a famous writer. In any case, after the war I'd like to publish a book called 'The Secret Annex'" Anne Frank, May 11, 1944</i></blockquote>
<div>
Among all postcards in the museum shop my favourites include Anne Frank's room, her portraits. They remind me of challenge as well as hope. </div>

It's definite that the illustrations own the perfection of simplicity with a strong sense of humour. <br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>"A friendly visual match between two cities told by a lover of Paris wandering through New York. Details, clichés, contradictions: This way, please." </i> </blockquote>
Now, you have a chance to get one of these postcards as a celebration of launching. By the way,<b> it's the first give away project of the Little Miss Postcrosser</b>, so I'm really excited. ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi94SOl6ycPzq39isY3ZX9no9753ViwcgxUCpIhI3LYspiWD2SfI2ObE90_2wSkD3P1NX8srtk15DYKKmbg2zId18rCt7fdOqYqEyh3B_vB-4dNuZI4KYvwOeUBSI7VR88dR2sAPo-IjfOt/s1600/line-overlay-paris_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="548" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi94SOl6ycPzq39isY3ZX9no9753ViwcgxUCpIhI3LYspiWD2SfI2ObE90_2wSkD3P1NX8srtk15DYKKmbg2zId18rCt7fdOqYqEyh3B_vB-4dNuZI4KYvwOeUBSI7VR88dR2sAPo-IjfOt/s640/line-overlay-paris_1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
When I first saw this project, it really made me laugh, since he caught real good details and<i> clichés</i> of the two cities. The illustrations are colorful, simple, easy to affirm their points and so perfect! They were first available as <a href="http://society6.com/parisvsnyc/prints" style="font-weight: bold;" target="_blank"><span id="goog_1671199048"></span>prints and stretched canvas<span id="goog_1671199049"></span>es</a>, and now as a <b><a href="http://www.colette.fr/#/eshop/article/30984635/paris-vs-new-york-postcards-box-vahram-muratyan/52/" target="_blank">postcard set</a></b> too. Postcard set is adorable by itself, because it allows you to have each illustration. Like I do now! <b>Since I'm not a selfish postcrosser, I really enjoy to share them with you.</b> Without further ado, let's see the Little Miss Postcrosser's first give away project.<br />
<br />
The Little Miss Postcrosser is founded in the beginning of December 2012 and <b>now it's time celebrate it!</b> As a celebration of launching I have decided to <b>give away five postcards from <a href="http://www.colette.fr/#/eshop/article/30984635/paris-vs-new-york-postcards-box-vahram-muratyan/52/" target="_blank">Paris vs. New York postcard set</a>.</b> ;)<br />

Her illustrations are diversified. Some of them are lively colors, full of energy and life; and some of them captures melancholy. Since she doesn't have one and only style to illustrate, and always find a way to express herself in different style of drawings, her characters are definitely different from each other. <b>Good news, now her characters are available as postcards.</b><br />

Maybe she sees us as tiny specks on the Earth's surface, just like Sigmund Jähn did back then.
