I just love the idea and now I'm trying to visualize P as Miss Postcrosser. Ohh, what about a postwoman? Is it too much cliché? Might be. I can do it better.

Who wants a postcard from Istanbul?

On Saturday, I'll fly to Istanbul (for those who don't know, it's my hometown) and I'm very excited to reunite with my family, friends, neighborhood... I've already started to pack. ;)

I'll definitely keep posting from Istanbul and share the beauty of my city. Besides social media posting, I have a better idea: sending postcards! Who wants a postcard from Istanbul? 

It's easy to receive one, just write me your postal address via chiydem@gmail.com

Even I want to be more generous and let you precise your postcard preferences (like city view, maps, museums, cats, cartoons, etc.), it'll be limited time, so I might not be able to send your favorite one.

breaking up via facebook relationship status

Under normal circumstances, I'm trying not to share anything but postcards or stationary at Miss Postcrosser. When I saw this short film, Noah, from Toronto Film Festival, I couldn't stop myself to post it.

Noah narrates a breaking up story via computer screen. Facebook relationship status, profile pictures, chats and even random chat rooms are all included to the process. So, basically, it's a story about how relationships are forming and even ending nowadays.

Is it sad but true, or just overrated? Check it out by yourself. Here is the video:




ps: have you ever hacked your boyfriend's / girlfriend's mailbox or facebook, twitter? So many years ago, I did once. It's more than terrible! You read everything you shouldn't have heard about. On the other hand, at the end of the day, you are the one who is miserably sad and plus guilty. Don't even think about it. ;)

sis sent me a postcard from Turin to inspire me to visit Italy. she felt in love with the city. I'm so excited to see the photos and listen to her discoveries. ;)

From a Polaroid into a Postcard

Creativity with postcards doesn't have any limits. Here is PolaroiDIY. It is a perfect project for personalized and creative postcards. 

"First thing to know: Polaroids can be mailed without an envelope!"

As you see, all you need is a polaroid photo of you holding an open blank notebook. I prefer the photos without showing faces, since the focus can be directly taken onto the message. But it depends on your choice for sure.

After the photo shoot, take a fine point pen (or Sharpie) and write your message onto the blank pages of the notebook. Nevertheless, short messages fit better, such as, "Thank You", "Happy Birthday", "Merry Christmas", and etc. A quick reminder! If the message is from a group of people (a couple or a family for example), it is possible to include more than one person in the photo. Sky is the limit! 

Final step; mailing postcard. You can just add a stamp and write address in a regular way on the back. But it is also possible to place stamp and address on the front, and write a longer message on the back. As you wish! 

If you don't have any Polaroid camera (like me), maybe you should first start to the project from googling an affordable and recommended camera (like I do). ;)

Last months I had chance to visit Copenhagen and NY again, and I have lots of notes to share. I couldn't wait till organizing all photos and trip notes; therefore, I decided to post some highlights. Consider them as snapshots. ;)

During my stay in NY, I've been always looking for new stationary ideas. Nevertheless, there were lots of charming notebooks, sticky notes, stamps, pens and pencils. Among all, there was a beautiful postcard display idea in MoMa museum shop; a postcard notebook.

Spotted: Hate mail postcards, offensive messages from Mr. Bingo

Are you dissappointed, pissed of or upset? Send a hate mail postcard via Mr. Bingo!
Mr. Bingo is a London-based illustrator who created the idea of hate mail. About a year ago, he was drunk in his studio and he tweeted "first person replies to this tweet, I'll send him an offensive message on back of a postcard." Suprisingly he got 50 replies! It was so interesting to see how people wanted to be hated. So, Mr. Bingo developed the hate mail postcard service where people could request offensive messages to be sent on their behalf. 

One day I will live in Paris

A few weeks ago I had a chance to spend a Sunday lunch time in Paris. I was invited to one of my dearest friends holy 30th birthday party. It was a quick one day trip that was full of joy. Here is Paris, me and our short but so precious reunion.

Banksy postcards: artworks from streets to homes

It is Banksy’s image of a girl frisking an Israeli soldier, which is originally painted on a wall in Israel. But its spirit can definitely be felt in any other zones in the world that are (or were) under military occupation. For example, it reminded me of 1940s' Berlin.
